touché, spider, touché

I killed a spider Friday night with a blowdryer.

Now some of you are thinking, OH MY GOSH, animal cruelty! Others of you, like me, understand the seriousness of spiders. I realize that I am a million times their size, I realize I could smash it with a single punch... But maybe what YOU don't realize is that their razor sharp pinchers could sting me any second and poison me, leading to my slow and painful death. Yeah. Bet you didn't realize that.

Anyway, I had to kill it. I was just getting into bed, all nice and cozy-like, at the end of a long day. The lights were out and I was just pulling the covers up to my chin when I looked to my left and saw the monster, hanging there, all nonchalant like.

After a brief freak out session I was finally able to return to my bed. I took a closer look at the positioning of the spider. It was on the outside of the screen on my window (phew), but inside the glass beyond the screen. Great. I couldn't whack the screen until it fell (though I tried for several minutes), and opening and closing the window didn't budge the spider either. I was out of options.

If only there was a way I could like, blow the spider off the screen, then open the window all quick like and have it drop to the ground...
OF COURSE! A blowdryer!
So, five minutes later, I sat on my bed and said a few words to the spider, something along the lines of "Yeah, this is MY town, Mr. Spider." "Bet you won't try this again, Mr. Spider." And turned the blowdryer on full blast.

I really just intended it to fall and then I'd open the window, no biggie. I ended up frying the spider :( And worse yet is that it didn't even fall off the screen. I now sleep next to a curled up, fried spider permanently attached to the screen next to my bed.

I realize that I should probably spend my first few blogs letting people get to know me, or impressing readers.. Or saying profound, insightful things.. But yeah, that's not always my style :)
